Kevin Hassett Emerges as Top Candidate to Replace Jerome Powell as FED Chair

The post Kevin Hassett Emerges as Top Candidate to Replace Jerome Powell as FED Chair appeared first on Coinpedia Fintech News

Kevin Hassett, an American economist and director of the White House National Economic Council, is currently the top candidate to replace Jerome Powell as the Federal Reserve chair when Powell’s term ends in mid-2026.

Hassett is seen as a “dovish” policymaker, someone who believes lower rates could boost the market.

Why Experts Want Hassett As Next Fed Chair?

Kevin Hassett is currently the top choice to replace Jerome Powell as Fed Chair, supported by Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and President Donald Trump. On top of it, Hassett has been one of Trump’s key economic advisers for years, which increases his chances.

However, Hassett has openly pushed for faster interest rate cuts and easier monetary policies. Lower rates usually push more investors toward riskier assets like Bitcoin and altcoins because borrowing becomes cheaper and market activity increases.

Industry leaders such as Bitwise strategist Juan Leon believe Hassett would be “strongly bullish” for crypto.

If Kevin Hassett becomes Fed Chair, the implications for crypto are strongly bullish.

2. Led the White House digital asset working group to shape pro-crypto…

Along with supporting digital assets, Hassett has direct involvement in the industry, he owns a major stake in Coinbase and previously served on its advisory board.

Other Top Candidates in the Fed Chair Race

Besides Hasse, other key candidates include former Fed Governor Kevin Warsh, Fed Governor Christopher Waller, Fed Vice Chair Michelle Bowman, and BlackRock executive Rick Rieder. Treasury Secretary Bessent plans to complete the vetting process and present the final nominee by early 2026

The selection process is underway, with the interview led by Treasury Secretary Bessent ongoing. The official announcement is expected by early 2026, just ahead of Powell’s term expiration.

Polymarket sees a 57% Chance Of Hassett

Prediction market Polymarket currently lists Hassett as the frontrunner, with around a 57% chance of becoming the next Fed Chair. However, no decision is expected this year, meaning things can still change.

Behind him, current Fed Governor Christopher Waller has a 22% chance, while former Fed Governor Kevin Warsh has a 15% chance.
